Graduation is a day every student looks forward to. Receiving the degree you have put your heart and soul into is like pouring ice cold water to fire.
When I came to Singapore, I used to strike days on the calendar to help me feel better about how soon I will be going back home. I cribbed about it everyday and hated staying without my family. The one and only day I was super excited about was the day I graduate and get my degree. I have been asking my family and friends who are older than me about how their graduation was and how it went just to get an insight of how mine would be. The one thing I hear from the majority is that when they wore the gown and the hat, they felt complete, as if they made it to their dreams and it felt like they were in seventh heaven.
I was so excited about my graduation that during my winter break, I even picked a gown for myself to wear the day I graduate. I look at it every day I open my closet and wonder why isn't time flying any faster, why is it so slow? Every month I would ask the concerned department in my college as to when is graduation and if they have picked a day. The day I found out when graduation was, I was on cloud nine and could not wait. I told my family and asked them to fly down to bless and witness me getting paid off for all the hard work I put into it.
I can count the days left for graduation on my fingers now and its such a wonderful feeling. Looking back at how my year was, it wasn't really all that bad, maybe I just cribbed too much about wanting to go back home to be honest. I really do hope and pray from the bottom of my heart that my fellow classmates and I pass with flying colours (and capture the perfect picture of our graduation hats in the air).
