Photoshoots are visually so appealing but the behind the scenes are worth knowing. It look pretty simple and so artsy but it does require a good amount of thought given to it. The location, weather, theme, garments, accessories, hair and makeup, props, lights, etc, all go hand in hand for a good shoot.

We required to shoot for our major project this semester and that made me not just the mastermind for my shoot but also the model for a friends'. I did mine in two halves since I had a reversible dress to be shot at different locations. During my photoshoot, I was required to conceptualise and put everything together and ask my model to say "cheese". She was instructed how to pose and what to do, what expressions to make. There were also few last minute fixes to be made to the garment since it was loose for her, I pinned it up and got her to shoot in it. A few problems with the models timings so we had to shoot at night which didn't give us access to too much light but I managed somehow. After shooting men, I had to get ready to model now.

I can vouch for the fact that I am definitely not as fussy of a model that I had for my shoot. The only thing I asked my friend not to do, was give me smoky eyes. I had around 4 changes that comprised 3 of my dresses and one prototype of hers. I applied my own makeup, styled myself. Now I had already done my research on poses for my model so I knew a little already and put it into application for this one too. I was also instructed by my friend on the poses since she wanted a few specific poses.

Conducting a photoshoot requires creative thinking and conceptualisation and featuring in one tires you. Standing, lying down, sitting in so many awkward positions tires the body. So if you think being a model is easy then don't forget that models aren't paid just to look pretty.
