It had been a long time since I had left my hostel and I was almost itching to get out for a change of atmosphere, a couple of my friends had suggested to go bowling. I always had a fun experience bowling so I thought “perfect, this is exactly what I need” not aware of the outcome of what this night was going to be like. We decided to go to this bowling alley that we had heard of that was a little far from our residence but still. Worth the trip right? I never found myself to be more wrong. But let’s get to that later. We reach the place and we get into our bowling gear waiting for a lane to open up. It was a crowded night. forty minutes later a lane opens up. Let the games begin. We started bowling and it started off well. Strikes and spares all the way round with the occasional embarrassing gutter ball. When suddenly one of my “friends” wants to play my turn and I refuse to let him. He threatens to bowl before me but I wouldn’t let him. The two of us both being eager and adamant to bowl at the same time did exactly that. This is when his bowling ball crashes on my finger in-between my bowling ball. The instant pain was pure agony. I felt an electric shock run across my entire body and that was it. The screaming and crying started.

I couldn’t move my finger and my friends had to take me to the emergency ward in Singapore general hospital to get me treated. The wait was long but the conclusion was quick. A fractured finger that may never recover fully because of severe nerve damage. I never received even a simple sorry from the person that caused this. This person will never be a friend of mine again. I will never be able to look at bowling the same way again.
